What my workouts look like these days

I'm counting down to 16 weeks, when I will start this beast of a training regime. Before that, I need to work my way up to running 4 miles without stopping (I was at 0 three weeks ago, and now I'm at 1). And I would like to try out some alternative things as well, like rock climbing to get me ready for that rope challenge and wall scaling. Don't really know how I will train for those. If you have tips for me, please let me know in the comments! But just to get me started, here's what I've been doing to get me from couch potato to workout novice.

Luckily, I contract for Google right now (FYI it is probably the BEST company to work for). They provide meals and a gym with accompanying fitness classes. These are such a good way for me to actually work out because sometimes if I'm working out by myself I don't work out very hard. Something about working out with other people and being afraid of losing face keeps me working out at a high intensity level in classes. Also, the instructors tell me what to do, and there's no wasting time thinking about what to do next. I'm getting maximum efficiency because my brain can solely focus on using my muscles. Working out in a group makes a huge difference in the enjoyability of my workouts.

A sampling of the fitness classes I go to most:

-Cardio Kickboxing, 1 hr
-Zumba, 1 hr
-Total Body Conditioning, 1 hr
-Vinyasa yoga, 1 hr
-Run Club

I'll also be bouldering tonight with some of my co-workers. They're so friendly! I absolutely love it at Google. =D

Now that I've been doing this for about four weeks, I am starting to feel like my workouts are becoming routine and I'm hitting a plateau. So! Soon I will be switching this up, maybe going back to barre classes and upping the strength training.

Thanks for reading my blog!

First Post: I'm doing an Obstacle Course Race!

Whatever brings you here -- whether you're looking for training tips, healthy weight loss ideas, an accountability tool, or you're just plain curious -- welcome to my blog! My very fun, first post will be an introduction to this site, although really it's an introduction to me. =P

Why the name spartantarte? I'm training for a Spartan Race! So after I finish it I will be a Spartan! And tarte because.. I'm sassy.. and it's one of my favorite makeup brands... sure. The name is what it is.
